Rabbit Reckoning is a concept, a virtual band of long-time friends and associates.  We are amateur musicians, artists and writers, interested in history, culture and politics.  The original music, exposed to the listening public here, are part of the soundtrack to Delta Boys: A Guitar Strummin’, Swamp Rockin’, Sing-along Critter Opera.  The Delta Boys are cartoon anthropomorphic animals, who live in a remote river delta swamp.  There, they play and sing their simple songs, and send a cautionary message to the world of humans, who are observed to be on the path to self-destruction.  Johnny Rabbit leans towards being a Constitutional Originalist and Libertarian conservative.  His best friend, Doc Possum tends to take a progressive Socialist position.  Doc believes that the Federal Government has an obligation to provide social programs and laws that cover and regulate almost every aspect of a critter’s life, to ensure that no animal ever goes hungry.  He would pay for this by heavily taxing every citizen, with especially high tax rates for the wealthy.  Ray Coon is a pragmatic anarchist, and thinks they are both full of it.

So.  Rabbit Reckoning is a virtual band, playing songs written by an imaginary rock band consisting of provocateur Johnny Rabbit and his friends; Doc Possum, Ray Coon, Fast Jimmy Foxx and Otter Jane.

You can file the music under Primitive Psychedelic Punk Americana.  Most of the songs are three or four chorders, and are designed to be easy to play.  Delta Boys was conceived as a rock opera for kids, anyone old enough to press fingers to guitar fretboard, to teach basic rock.  The remote, swampy world of the Delta Boys is has no theoretical boundaries.  Young and learning artists are invited to contribute spin-off music and artwork, as the story progresses.

Each episode of the Delta Boys musical/rock opera, will feature an original song, along with guitar chord description.
